A quick observation and I’m wondering if anyone else has been noticing this but as of late, I’ve seen an influx in the rise of the use of stop-motion animation. Stop motion (or frame-by-frame) animation is a general term for an animation technique which makes a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. This is the same technique that made Gumby come to life for many of us that used to watch the show growing up. Is this simply an old technique that has once again come to the forefront to refresh our sensibilities that have been dulled by slick and polished productions, thereby labeling it as a trend, or is it proof that our creativity isn’t limited by technolog? You decide. Either way, it’s pretty cool!
Here’s a few examples of some stop motion animations that I have seen recently that I think are absolutely brilliant.
